Ecola State Park

About Ecola State Park
Ecola State Park spans 9 miles of the Pacific Coast, just north of Cannon Beach. A rugged and scenic treasure with sweeping ocean views, it’s an area with rich history and some of the best hiking trails on the Oregon Coast. Whether you're stopping by to take in the views or planning to spend the day, it's easy to see why this Oregon State Park draws visitors year-round.
The road into the park winds through a dense Sitka spruce forest before opening up to grassy bluffs and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. From your first glimpse of Ecola Point, you’ll understand why this park is featured in so many iconic photos. If you’re lucky, you might even spot gray whales, bald eagles, or an occasional herd of elk as you explore.
A $10 day-use fee is required and can be purchased at the entrance. You'll find a parking lot, restrooms, and picnic areas near the main viewpoints. And yes—leashed dogs are welcome, as long as you clean up after them and keep them under control.

The two most popular destinations within the park are Ecola Point and Indian Beach. Both offer different but equally stunning views of the coastline.
Ecola Point
This is the main viewpoint and easily the most photographed. It offers postcard-perfect views of Haystack Rock, sea stacks, and the ridge of coastal mountains behind Cannon Beach. There’s a short, paved path from the parking area that’s accessible and ideal for quick visits or sunset watching.
Indian Beach
A little more off-the-beaten-path, this secluded cove is a favorite among surfers and tidepoolers. The parking area is smaller, and the vibe is quieter—perfect for families looking to picnic, splash in the surf, or just take in the beauty.
Crescent Beach
If you’re up for a short hike, this stretch of sand lies between Ecola Point and Chapman Point. It’s often less crowded and offers great spots for wildlife viewing.
Tillamook Rock Lighthouse
Best seen from the Clatsop Loop Trail, this decommissioned lighthouse sits on a rock offshore and adds a ghostly charm to the views.
